Looks awfully similar to this bug
which points to this twisted report and this gnome gobject bug

And here is the Fedora bug: 660137

So, I believe we should just leave it to the distributors to ship patched versions of the libraries we rely on rather than trying to workaround the issue (not even sure it is possible to do so)

Added workaround which disables gtk2reactor using --no-gtk-reactor command line switch in both client (changeset) and server (changeset) - probably not worth using as it causes more problems than it solves!

I have now created a twisted bug since apparently pygtk/glib have already been fixed so the problem seems to lie with twisted... This was a dupe of twisted bug 4658
