#154 closed defect
spurious characters with xpra — at Version 12
Reported by: | FredSRichardson | Owned by: | Antoine Martin |

Component: | Xpra | Keywords: | |

Description (last modified by )
I'm using the latest version on both the client and server:
xpra-0.0.7.22.1
I notice that when I use certain emacs commands like "C-X 1" or "C-X 0" a sequence of "1" or "0" will get pasted at the current point in the buffer.
The server is ubuntu-64 (lucid) and the client is ubuntu-32 (lucid VM under Windows 7).
Thanks!

I would be happy to try the new version. Where can I find it?
The link from https://winswitch.org/downloads/ points to http://aur.archlinux.org which doesn't seem to have it.
Thanks!

hah, you use arch which is the only build maintained by a third party, so you will have to ask them.
I don't know much about arch, but I am confident you can just bump the version in that build file.

Antoine, can I use the version you just released?
xpra-0.0.7.23
Where do I find this?

DOH, I had forgotten to upload it (sorry!) - done now. It's in the usual place:
http://winswitch.org/src/

Ah, okay, I didn't see that link on the winswitch download page, but may well have missed it.
Thanks!

Hi, Antoine, how do I register with your bug tracker you pointed to? I can't seem to post a bug report.
BTW: I'm still testing the new version, thanks!

xpra did crash on me today. I've attached the log file which might mean something to you.

I have no idea where the "register" link has gone to!? Sorry about that, I'll see if I can restore it..
In the meantime, I have made a number of keyboard fixes to the code recently, would you mind trying to see if that resolved the problem for you?
Notably:
You can download the svn code from: http://xpra.devloop.org.uk/svn/Xpra/trunk/src/

As for debugging the crash, I am afraid that the only way to get meaningful information out of GTK is to run it under gdb
and set GDK_SYNCHRONIZE=1
.
So until this crash can be reproduced reliably.. there isn't much I can do about it, sorry.

Hi, I haven't seen the spurious character problem in a while so that may be fixed, but I do see a few other minor consistent problems. I will try the new code and let you know.
I was able to enter my info into your Trac registration page but haven't yet received a verification e-mail, so I can't add tickets to your xpra Trac system. If you can get this working for me I will use it. Username is FredSRichardson there to.

trac is behaving oddly on this site (same system as winswitch.org, but it ends up being much slower - despite using the "fast cgi" interface.. never mind)
Also, my verification email ended up in gmail's spam folder despite being valid, well formed, SPFed, etc...
You should be able to get the email re-sent from here:
http://xpra.devloop.org.uk/trac/verify_email
Although you may have to login again first: http://xpra.devloop.org.uk/trac/login
I'll see what I can do about your bugs...
Can you try again with
xpra-0.0.7.23
which was released just yesterday? There were very few changes, but keymap fixes was one of them.
BTW, For pure xpra bugs (not related to winwitch), please file bugs on this bugtracker
